To help ensure Alaska stays green and beautiful, Alaska Communications partners with several organizations dedicated to environmental protection.
Recycling Program
Alaska Communications works with The Wireless Alliance of Boulder, Colorado to provide free recycling of used cell phones and accessories. Recycling boxes at Alaska Communications stores accept unwanted cell phones regardless of the make, model, or condition. The Wireless Alliance either refurbishes or shreds the discarded devices according to regulations set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. So far, we’ve recycled nearly a ton of used cell-phones.
Nature Conservancy
In 2008 Alaska Communications joined The Nature Conservancy’s Corporate Council on the Environment, a group of corporate leaders dedicated to reduce the size of their firms’ environmental footprints while sharing financial and in-kind resources with the Conservancy.
Living Green with Green Star
Alaska Communications recently became a member of Green Star, a nonprofit organization based in Anchorage that encourages businesses to practice waste reduction, energy conservation and pollution prevention. Alaska Communications is working to become a Green Star certified business.
